A fancy looking but easy to make treat!
- puff pastry
- jam (we used red currant)
Cut the puff pastry into stripes (about 5cm width – parallel to the shorter side of the pastry) and spread them with a thin layer of jam. Cut the plums into thin “half circle” slices. And grease a muffin pan.
Arrange the plum slices along the pastry stripes in the following way: the plums are placed along the longer edge of the pastry stripes – about 1 cm (of the curved edge of the slices) does not overlap with the pastry (this part pokes out and creates the petals in the end). Neighbouring slices of the plums along the edge of the pastry should overlap by about 50%. Once the longer edge of a pastry strip is covered with plums in this way, fold the strip in half along the shorter edge (fold it over the plum slices – they are now poking out from within two layers of pastry). Now carefully roll this strip into a spiral along the longer edge. Put it into a cup of the muffin pan.
Bake until the dough is light brown at 180° C (fan) . Let them cool for five minutes, then remove them from the muffing pan carefully and lightly dust them with icing sugar.
Enjoy together with a nice cup of tea or coffee!
